Last week (Friday 2 December) we donated 7 Christmas trees to some respite centres in Sussex and Surrey that are supported by the Rockinghorse Children’s Charity.
The centres were:
- Orchard House Respite Centre, Cuckfield
- Finches Respite Centre, Burgess Hill
- Chalkhill Mental Health Unit, Haywards Heath
- Beeches Respite Centre,Reigate
- Tudor House Respite Centre,Brighton
- Drove road Respite Centre, Portslade
And we also delivered a large 11ft tree to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, which is also helped by Rockinghorse.
The trees were all Nordman Firs and freshly cut from our plantation in Five Ashes, then delivered out the next day.
We teamed up with our friends at Friday-Ad, who very kindly donated decorations for the trees and also staff, who volunteered to decorate them.
Twenty staff from Friday-Ad went out and in some cases were helped by some of the children to decorate the trees.
And as you can see from the photos in our Facebook gallery they all looked fantastic!
Rockinghorse is an independent charity, which aims to make life better for sick and disabled children in Sussex and Surrey by ensuring medical facilities for children and young people are as cutting edge, comfortable, friendly and accessible as possible.
Many of the children they support have complex disabilities, health issues or short life expectancies. Their families and carers need help too, which is why they now support respite centres across the region as well as hospitals.
