If you’re buying a cut tree you’ll need a Christmas tree stand to fix it in so that it doesn’t topple over. We have a range of stands including budget-friendly plastic options, decorative cast iron stands and ingenious pedal-action ones. All of our Christmas tree bases are designed to hold a bit of water which you should top up to to keep your tree looking fresh.

The two things that matter are the height of your tree and the thickness of its trunk. Pick a stand rated for a tree at least as tall as yours, and if you're between sizes, go up one: a bigger base is steadier and holds more water.
Ordering a tree too? Add the stand to the same order and it'll arrive together. Have a look at our real Christmas trees.
How much water does a real Christmas tree need?
A lot, especially in the first week: a freshly cut tree can drink a litre or more a day. Check the stand every day and keep the water above the bottom of the trunk. A tree that's kept watered holds its needles far better.
How do I keep my tree straight?
Stand the tree up in the stand before you tighten it, check it from two sides, then tighten evenly. Pedal-clamp stands like the Krinners grip the trunk evenly all the way round, which makes this much easier.
Do I need a stand for a pot-grown tree?
No. A potted Christmas tree stands in its own pot. Just pop it in a decorative cover pot.
